The production screens utilize WBS work breakdown structures approach to organize and prepare proposal elements and cost estimates. This also includes outside support for vendors, subcontracting information and estimating. The WBS allows marketing to divide contract elements into bid packages so that clients and marketing can do a bit no-bid evaluation for the contract project elements. You can provide any WBS element in your costing, or remove those elements that the customer wants to transfer to other companies. For an example, maybe you’re doing construction project and you offer a survey team as one of the WBS elements. The customer informs you that he has a company for doing the surveys, and you merely have to zero out the estimate in the WBS for the survey and it automatically updates the proposal costs. In the same way you can break down supporting cost elements and overhead to identify where to place your margins, and what elements you want to subcontract.
